The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) and its Eritrean counterpart have agreed to stage a historic friendly game in August.<\/p>\n

An exact date for the match is yet to be decided but looks set to be played in the Eritrean capital Asmara.<\/p>\n

The two nations have been avoiding games against each since the start of a border war in 1998.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks\u00a0peace has returned to the area\u00a0with diplomatic ties being resumed.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia boycotted games against Eritrea in 2000 and refused to take part in the east and central African regional under-20 event organised by Cecafa.<\/p>\n

For their part, Eritrea has also failed to take part in the 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup and forfeited a 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
