Trade and Industry Affairs Standing Committee of the Ethiopian Parliament held a discussion with a delegation of the World Trade Organization (WTO).<\/p>\n

The discussion mainly focused on Ethiopia\u2019s accession to the Organization.<\/p>\n

Members of the Standing Committee told Ambassador Alan Wolff, Deputy Director-General of WTO and head of the delegation, that Ethiopia is keen to join the organization.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Alan Wolff for his part said he is hopeful that Ethiopia\u2019s bid to become members of the organization could get an answer by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

Joining WTO would help the country to achieve Agenda 2030, Ambassador Wolff said.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia resumed discussion last month to join the organization after eight years.<\/p>\n

Mamo Mihretu, Senior Advisor and Chief Trade Negotiator at the PM office, held the discussion with WTO Director General Roberto Azevedo in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n

The two discussed ways to expedite the process in Ethiopia\u2019s longstanding efforts to be part of the multilateral trading system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
