Meskel is an intangible heritage that has been listed by UNESCO as a way to remember the true cross’s discovery. The true cross on which Jesus was crucified is discovered on the national holiday observed by Ethiopian Orthodox Christians. This religious and cultural festival is held on September 27 (Mesekerem 17, according to the Ethiopian calendar).<\/div>\n
