H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun participated in a roundtable meeting organized by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations and President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute, hosted a roundtable meeting on 8 May, 2025 marking of the 10th anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement and the launching of GGGI.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Former Secretary-General emphasized the need for stronger global collaboration to address the adverse effects of climate change. He also highlighted the progress made and the way forward in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) amid today\u2019s evolving global challenges.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In his intervention, Ambassador Eshete shared Ethiopia\u2019s experience in climate-smart agriculture, afforestation and reforestation efforts. He noted that although many pledges have been made, most remain unfulfilled. He stressed the importance of key priorities, including strengthening global cooperation, ensuring national-level commitment, and establishing accountability mechanisms.<\/div>\n

He also emphasized that green job creation should prioritize women and girls in Africa and advocate to support renewable energy projects must be encouraged.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The roundtable provided opportunity for GGGI\u2019s partners and beneficiaries countries to share their experiences in green growth, climate financing, and carbon trading.<\/div>\n
