The Fifth meeting of Ethiopia\u2013European Union Joint Working Group (JWG) established under the admission procedures took place in Brussels on 27 June 2025, at DG HOME in the European Commission.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Ethiopian delegation was led by Ambassador Abraham Mengistu, Director General for American and European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. He co-chaired the meeting alongside Ms. Silvena Pesta, Head of Return and Readmission at the European Union.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ambassador Abraham underscored Ethiopia\u2019s continued political commitment and operational efforts in addressing migration challenges. He also urged the European Union to take tangible steps toward Streamlining migration management according to commitments of different mechanisms.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
EU Member States acknowledged Ethiopia\u2019s constructive engagement and commitment to cooperate in this regard.<\/div>\n
Both sides agreed to sustain their engagement and further strengthen their partnership to address migration related issues in the spirit of shared responsibility and collaboration.<\/div>\n
