Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a productive discussion with Ms. Beate Gminder, Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs (EU-DG HOME) on 18 November 2024. The discussion focused on migration cooperation, particularly issues related to visa for Ethiopian nationals.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The two officials appraised efforts of the government of Ethiopia and the commitment to the bilateral cooperation on migration and development. They also highlighted the EU’s readiness to support in addressing the root causes of ilegal migration.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ambassador Eshete stressed Ethiopia’s efforts towards promoting strategic partnership with the European Union through regular engagements. He further explained the negative impacts of the EU visa policies on flow of businesses and people to people relations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Director General on her parts acknowledged the significant progress made in the dialogue and cooperation of the migration issues. She emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure effective implantation of commitments in the sector.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Both officials agreed on the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue that steers further the ongoing cooperation and new areas of mutual interests.<\/div>\n
