On June 22, 2019 evening, HE Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen, President of the Amhara Regional Government, and HE Ezez Wassie, Amhara Regional Government Office Advisor, were killed during an attempted coup. The situation is under the full control of the Federal government in collaboration with the Regional government.
