The House of Federation has begun its second regular session.
The constitutional interpretation and identity affairs standing committee of the House forwarded a resolution on the postponement of the general elections.
The committee proposed all federal and regional state councils to continue functioning provided that the spread of the coronavirus remains a threat to the country.
It also proposed the election be held within 9 months to 1 year if pertinent bodies confirm that the virus will no longer cause damage to the country.
Members of the House of Federation are currently deliberating on the resolution. After the discussion, the House is expected to come to decision on it.
