The Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels colorfully celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022, under the national theme, this year ,”I am the guardian of my sister”.
Ambassador Hirut Zemene has noted, this year, H.E. president Sahelework Zewdie has celebrated women in the armed forces for their remarkable deed to safeguard their motherland. She had also remarked the value of nurturing women in leadership through gender parity. She further pledged to follow the national theme of the year to take initiative to support women in need in various parts of the county.
A presentation was delivered through the initiative of young diplomats of the embassy represented by Aykelkel Berhanu noting both the themes of the year nationally and at an international level.
An exchange of view had then followed by discussing progresses made to promote the status of women in the society , including in the diplomatic field while appreciating the challenges faced by girl children and women in general.
The diplomats of the Embassy took the occassion to contribute their part to support women currently in need in the country on their own initiatives.
