On 31 May 2022, the Embassy of F.D.R. Ethiopia in Brussels hosted a virtual tourism promotion event aimed at showing the newly added touristic destinations in Addis Ababa to the tour operators based in the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands & Luxembourg) as well as linking them with Ethiopian tour operators.
On the occasion, Her Excellency Ambassador Hirut Zemene, noting the effects of Covid-19, stated the need for reinvigorating the tourism sector. The Ambassador also indicated that Addis Ababa -as political capital of Africa- with its newly built magnificent tourist destinations, has much to offer to tourist especially for transit travelers.
Dr. Fitsum Abate from Addis Ababa City Administration Culture, Arts & Tourism Bureau made a detailed presentation on the tourism potentials of Addis Ababa including the new tourist attractions (#UnityPark, #ShegerPark, and #EntotoPanoramicPark) that were recently added to the exciting ones in the capital. Mr. Gemechis Tujuba, Benelux area manager of #EthiopianAirlines, has also made a brief presentation about the elevated services of the airlines to tourists travelling to Ethiopia. Some tour operators from Benelux countries, Ethiopian tour operators, representatives of concerned Ethiopian governement offices, and a representative of #AWEX were among the participants.
In addition to the promotion of the new destinations, the challenges faced by the tour operators were also raised and discussed.
