On July 14, 2026, ahead of the 121st Session of the OACPS Council of Ministers, H.E. Mrs. Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, held key bilateral meetings with the OACPS Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Moussa Saleh Batraki, and the current President-in-Office of the Council, Honourable Seedy K.M. Keitta, Minister of Finance and Economy of The Gambia.
The discussions focused on ensuring a seamless transition as Ethiopia prepares to assume the presidency of the OACPS from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
During her meeting with Honourable Keitta, H.E. Mrs. Semereta expressed appreciation for the dedicated leadership demonstrated by The Gambia during its tenure as President-in-Office and sought his advice to ensure successful transition.
Honourable Minister Keitta, commended the successful economic and institutional reforms currently underway in Ethiopia, describing them as a leading example for the African continent. He stressed the urgent need to address outstanding membership contributions and the fulfilment of voluntary pledges made at the 11th Malabo Summit of the OACPS. The two Ministers exchanged views on how to enable the Secretariat to ensure transparency and accountability.
In her meeting with Secretary-General Batraki, Her Excellency outlined some of Ethiopia’s priorities of the Presidency. Expressing high expectations from Ethiopia’s leadership, Mr. Batraki highlighted the nation’s historical role and pledged the Secretariat’s full support.
Both meetings highlighted Ethiopia’s readiness to collaborate closely with the Secretariat and the outgoing chairmanship to fulfil its mandate. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation and to working together to advance the Organization’s strategic objectives.

Today, 04 July 2026, the Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels, in partnership with the Africa Museum, conducted inaugural event of an Art and Cultural Exhibition in the context of commemorating of 120th anniversary of Ethiopia–Belgium diplomatic relations.
The Exhibition brought together government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, artists, researchers, the Ethiopian community to celebrate the longstanding Ethio-Belgian bilateral relations built on mutual respect, cultural exchange and friendship.
H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun and H.E. Mr. Bart Ouvry, Director-General of the Africa Museum, officially opened the exhibition, highlighting the important role of culture in strengthening international friendship and promoting people to people ties.
Ambassador Eshete emphasized that diplomacy is not sustained by treaties alone but through people-to-people relations including through art and cultural exchange.
The opening session was followed by presentations on cultural heritage conservation and guided tours that showcased Ethiopian historical photographs and cultural artifacts.
The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to the Africa Museum, all partners, researchers, artists, and guests whose valuable contributions made this celebration a great success.
The exhibition remains open for two days. We invite everyone to visit and discover the rich history and shared cultural heritage connecting Ethiopia and Belgium.

Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a courtesy call and bilateral meeting with Ambassador Mahen Abhimanu Kundasamy, Ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius to the Kingdom of Belgium, at the Embassy of Ethiopia on on 3rd  July 2026.

Ambassador Eshete underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral consultation between Ethiopian and Mauritius diplomatic mission on  issues of common interest.

He emphasized the value of working collectively within the framework of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) to advance shared interests and priorities on global platforms.

On his part, Ambassador Kundasamy reaffirmed the necessity of enhancing bilateral cooperation, specifically focusing on economic sphere. He also called for enhanced Global South cooperation to further strengthen ties between OACPS member States.  Ambassador Kundasamy commended the ongoing development progress of  his country and Ethiopia and the as transformative face of Africa

Both Ambassadors agreed on the importance of maintaining open and constructive dialogue on issues of mutual concern.

On 02 June 2026, H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun visited PURATOS, a Belgian multinational company renowned for its expertise in bakery, patisserie, chocolate, and food fermentation technologies, to discuss opportunities for expanding investment in Ethiopia’s food processing sector.
During the visit, Ambassador Eshete discussed thoroughly with senior executives of PURATOS about the company’s global operations and its ongoing investments in Ethiopia. The main focus of the discussion was on PURATOS’s internationally recognized expertise in fermentation technology and modernization of Ethiopia’s staple food by reducing preparation times while maintaining product quality, taste and cultural value.
Ambassador Eshete welcomed PURATOS’s interest and emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to attracting investment that promotes value addition, job creation, and export growth. He noted that joint ventures with innovative companies such as PURATOS can contribute to the modernization of Ethiopia’s agro-processing sector.
As part of the visit, Ambassador Eshete toured PURATOS’s Research and Development (R&D) facilities and testing laboratories, where he observed the company’s cutting-edge technologies in bakery innovation, fermentation science, and product development.

Ambassador Eshete met H.E. Ambassador Neil Kerr, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malta to the European Union on 1 June 2026. The two Ambassadors exchange views on Ethiopia-Malta bilateral relations, regional and global cooperation. Their talks spanned through the current situation in the Horn of Africa and global affairs.

Ambassador Eshete outlined Ethiopia’s stance on key regional and geopolitical issues, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between Ethiopia and the European Union. For his part, Ambassador Neil Kerr highlighted areas of particular importance to Malta and the European Union. The two Ambassadors agreed to maintain regular consultation and exchange of views on issues of mutual interests.

ብራስልስ የሚገኘው የኢትዮጵያ ኤምባሲ የቤልጅየም የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር ከፍተኛ የስራ ኃላፊዎች በተገኙበት በኢትዮጵያ እና በቤልጂየም መንግሥታት መካከል መደበኛ የዲፕሎማሲ ግንኙነት የተጀመረበትን 120ኛ አመት በዓል Press Club Brussels Europe በተባለው ማዕከል ሜይ 28 ቀን 2026 ዓ.ም. አክብሯል። እ.ኤ.አ. 2026 ዓ.ም. ግንኙነቱን ለመዘከር ከሚዘጋጁ ተከታታይ ሁነቶች የመጀመሪያ የሆነው “Images of Friendship: 120” የፎቶ ኤግዚቢሽን በእለቱ ተከፍቷል።
በቤልጅየም የኢትዮጵያ አምባሳደር ክቡር አምባሳደር እሸቴ ጥላሁን በመክፈቻ ንግግራቸው በኢትዮጵያ እና በቤልጂየም መካከል ያለውን ጥልቅና ታሪካዊ ትስስር በማንሳት ከመደበኛ ዲፕሎማሲያዊ ግንኙነት ባሻገር በንግድ፣ በባህል፣ በትምህርት ትብብር እና በህዝብ ለህዝብ ግንኙነት እየተከናወኑ ያሉ ስራዎችን አጠናክሮ መቀጠል እንደሚገባ ገልፀዋል።
በኢትዮጵያ የቤልጅየም አምባሳደር H.E. Annelies Verstichel በቪዲዮ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት በሁለቱ ሀገራት መካከል ያለውን የአጋርነትና የህዝብ ለህዝብ ትስስር ማጠናከር አስፈላጊ መሆኑን አስምረውበታል።
የእለቱ የክብር እንግዳ የቤልጂየም ምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር እና የውጭ ጉዳይ፣ የአውሮፓ ጉዳዮች እና ዓለምአቀፍ ትብብር ሚኒስትር የካቢኔ ኃላፊ H.E. Hubert Roisin በዓሉን በማስመልከት ንግግር ያደረጉ ሲሆን፣ ኢትዮጵያና ቤልጂየም በተለያዩ ዘርፎች ያላቸውን ትብብሮች ለማጠናከር እንደሚሰራ ማረጋገጫ ሰጥተዋል። የውጭ ጉዳይ መስሪያ ቤት የአፍሪካ ጉዳዮች ኃላፊ እንዲሁም የፕሮቶኮል ሹሙ ተገኝተዋል።
በዝግጅቱ Mr. Tim Ianna በተባሉ ግለሰብ “The Tale of Two Lions” በሚል ርዕስ የተዘጋጀ የኢትዮ-ቤልጂየም ታሪካዊ ግንኙነቶች የሚዘክር ጽሁፍ አቅርበዋል። በመቀጠልም በግንኙነቱ ዋና ዋና የነበሩ ኦፊሴላዊ ጉብኝቶችን እና ሁነቶችን የሚያሳይ ቪዲዮ ቀርቧል።
የእለቱ ድምቀት የነበረው “Images of Friendship: 120” የተሰኘ በኢትዮጵያና በቤልጂየም መካከል ያለውን አጋርነትና ግንኙነት የሚያሳይ የፎቶግራፍ ኤግዚቢሽን በክብር እንግዳው እና በሚሲዮናችን መሪ ተከፍቶ በበዓሉ ታዳሚዎች ተጎብኝቷል።

በሚሲዩኑ ለዜጎች የሚሰጠውን የአገልግሎት ተደራሽነት ከማስፋት አኳያ ሜይ 23 ቀን 2026 ዓ.ም. በኔዘርላንድስ ሄግ ከተማ በመገኘት በአካባቢው ለሚኖሩ ኢትዮጵያዊያንና ትውልደ ኢትዮጵያዊያን የተለያዩ የቆንስላ፣ የኢሚግሬሽንና ዜግነት አገልግሎቶችን ሰጥቷል።
በሥራና በተለያዩ ምክንያቶች ወደ ብራሰልስ ሚሲዮን መምጣት ላልቻሉ የኮሚዩኒቲው አባላት አገልግሎቱን በቅርበት ማድረስ በመቻሉ ከፍተኛ አድናቆት የተቸረው ሲሆን፣ ማህበረሰቡም ተመሳሳይ አገልግሎቶች ወደፊትም ተጠናክረው እንዲቀጥሉ ጠይቀዋል። ከቆንስላ አገልግሎቱ ጎን ለጎን፣ በዕለቱ ከተገኙ የዳያስፖራ አባላት ጋር በአገራዊ ልማት፣ ሰላም እና ኢንቨስትመንት ዙሪያ ፍሬያማ ውይይት ተካሂዷል።

Ambassador Eshete Tilahun and his Economic Diplomacy collegues visited CRV, a Dutch dairy farmers cooprative company
Today, 12 May 2026, H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun and his team from the Business Diplomacy section of the Embassy visited CRV, a Dutch cooperatives company, a global leader in livestock genetics, breeding, and innovative herd management solutions.
During the visit Ambassador Eshete held discussion with Mr. Hielke Sportel, General Manager of CRV Africa, focusing on potential areas of cooperation in livestock genetics, breeding technologies, and sustainable dairy development.
The visit included tours of CRV’s embryo collection and testing center as well as modern livestock farms, where the Ambassador observed advanced breeding technologies and best breeds selection systems.
Both sides agreed to strengthen partnerships in livestock development and working together in different modality to Ensure shared benefits through improved productivity of the livestock sector in Ethiopia.
