በብራሰልስ የኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ ኤምባሲ ባልደረቦች በአገር አቀፍ ደረጃ ለ18ኛ ጊዜ “ሰንደቅ አላማችን ለኢትዮጵያ ታላቅ የከፍታ ብስራት፣ ለብሄራዊ አንድነታችን፣ ለሉዓላዊነታችንና ለኢትዮጵያ ህዳሴ’’ በሚል መሪ ቃል የሰንደቅ አላማ ቀን ዛሬ ጥቅምት 03 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. በድምቀት አክብረዋል።
በስነስርዓቱ ላይ ክቡር አምባሳደር እሸቴ ጥላሁን በበዓሉን አስመልክቶ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት ለሰንደቅ ዓላማ የሚሰጥ ክብርና ፍቅር፣ ሀገራዊ አንድነትና ህብረብሄራዊነት ለማፅናት በኢትዮጵያውያን የተከፈለውን መስዋዕትነት ማዕከል ማድረግ እንዳለበት ገልፀዋል። አገራችንን እና ሕዝቦቿ በየወቅቱ ያጋጠማቸውን ፈተናዎችና ተግዳሮቶችን በመሻገር የተመዘገቡ ድሎችን በየዘመኑ መድገምና የሀገራችንን ሉዓላዊነት ማስቀጠል የሁሉም ዜጎች ግዴታ እንደሆነ አስረድተዋል።
ስለሰንደቅ አላማችን ክብር ስናስብ የሰላምና ፀጥታ አስከባሪዎች በተለይም የመከላከያ ሰራዊታችንን መስዋዕትነት ከፍ አድርገን ማክበር እንዳለብን አመልክተዋል።የሰንደቅ አላማ ክብር ትውልድና አፅናፋትን ተሻጋሪ ሊሆን እንደሚገባም ገልፀዋል።

A delegation led by Ambassador Hirut Zemene, Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union and the UNECA took part at the 16th Annual African Union Peace and Security Council and European Union Peace and Security Committee Joint Consultative Meeting held in Brussels on 9 October 2025.
The meeting deliberated, among others, on peace and security issues in the Horn of Africa, the Great Lake region and the Sahel as well as the need for enhanced cooperation in multilateral fora to uphold common interests. The Ethiopian delegation took part as a lead contributor on the discussion in the Horn of Africa. Ambassador Hirut also shared the experience of Ethiopia and perspectives of the African continent on the discussion on Women, Peace and Security during the informal working lunch meeting.
Prior to the Joint Annual Consultation, a successful exchange was made at a preparatory meeting -the 8th AU – EU PSC retreat and a Consultative meeting between the African Group of Ambassadors in Brussels (GAAB) and the Members of the AU Peace and Security Council on the 7th of October 2025.
The 16th AU EU Peace and Security consultative meeting concluded by adopting a joint communique.

H.E. President Taye Atske-Selassie Amde held discussions with H.E. Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Commission.
The two sides exchanged views on a broad range of bilateral and multilateral issues, including the need to scale up Ethiopia–EU cooperation, and to advance peace and security in the Horn of Africa and beyond.

President Taye Atske-Selassie Highlights Ethiopia–EU Partnership at Global Gateway Forum 2025
H.E. President Taye Atske-Selassie Amde delivered a statement at the Global Gateway Forum 2025, describing the event as a milestone in the 50-year partnership between Ethiopia and the European Union.
In his address, President Taye noted that Ethiopia–EU cooperation has gained new momentum since the signing of the 2016 Joint Declaration on a Strategic Engagement. He emphasized that the partnership is evolving from traditional development cooperation into a more strategic and results-oriented framework.
President Taye underlined that the Global Gateway’s key focus areas of renewable energy, digital transformation, and sustainable infrastructure are closely aligned with Ethiopia’s national development strategy.
H.E. Taye Atske-Selassie highlighted three priority areas for future collaboration: Establishing a joint Africa Technology Innovation Platform and Mechanism, including regional centers of excellence for green energy and digital services to accelerate knowledge transfer; Launching a Value Chain Integration Initiative to strengthen industrial linkages and competitiveness; and
Deepening cooperation with the European Union to advance the objectives of the Global Gateway and promote shared prosperity.
The President reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to working closely with the European Union to build a sustainable, inclusive, and forward-looking partnership.

Ethiopia and EU Sign Partnership to enhance Trade and Investment at Global Gateway Forum
Ethiopia and the European Union signed a new partnership agreement on the sidelines of the Global Gateway Forum, taking place on 9-10 October 2025 in Brussels, marking 50 years of diplomatic relations.
President Taye Atske-Selassie Amde and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, and sustainable development.
The EU announced a €105 million support package to advance land governance, nature preservation, migration management, and women’s economic empowerment, as well as refugee resilience and reintegration. The partnership will also promote investments in clean energy, digital transformation, agri-food value chains, and health systems under the Global Gateway framework.

Today 6 October 2025, Eshete Tilahun, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the European Union and the BENELUX countries, held a discussion with Ms. Mihaela ZUPANCIC MAGOVAC, Director for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) of the European Commission.

The meeting held prior to the Director’s upcoming visit to Ethiopia from 14 to18 October 2025.
During the meeting, Ambassador Eshete explained Ethiopia is hosting around one million refugees and burden sharing in relation to sustenance of refugees remains important. While appreciating the support of the EU, the Ambassador requested enhanced support and cooperation to address challenges that refugees face. The Director on her part briefed the role, activities, working process and operational issues of the EU Humanitarian Aid.

The two sides also exchanged views on humanitarian, bilateral and regional issues of mutual interests. They agreed on the need to sharing information in advance and working together on the bilateral and regional humanitarian issues.

The Embassy hosted a business follow-up event on 02 October 2025. The event aimed to build upon the achievements and momentum gained from the Ethio-Belgium and Luxembourg Economic Forum, which took place in Ethiopia from 1st to 4th June 2025.
The representatives of the CBL-ACP and members of the business delegation who had participated in the economic mission to Ethiopia shared their experiences and insights. They provided debriefed on what they had observed during their visit, highlighting the significant opportunities and developments aspiration of Ethiopia. Some of the delegates remain actively engaged with Ethiopian businesses as they work toward launching their own ventures. Furthermore, the delegates conveyed their eagerness to revisit Ethiopia, contribute to the country’s economic progress and commitment to fostering enduring economic ties between the three nations.
H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun, in his remark asserted the importance of the next step in strengthening business ties between Ethiopian, Belgian, and Luxembourg businesses.
On her part, H.E. Ambassador Annelies Verstichel emphasized that Belgian companies are dedicated to building strong partnerships and advancing the economic growth of both countries through ongoing collaboration and participation in future projects.

H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a courtesy meeting with H.E. Mrs. Theodora Gentzis, President of the Management Committee, FPS Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Belgium at her office.
The two officials exchange views on strengthening bilateral relation and high-level discussions on bilateral and regional issues. They emphasized the need to further cooperation on economic partnership in trade and investment, regional peace and security as well as combating terrorism and impact of climate change.

On 30 September 2025, H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a meeting with representatives from Volver Consulting. The objective of the discussion was to explore avenues for attracting investment to Ethiopia and enhancing access for Ethiopian products in the European market.
The Volver Consulting team provided insights into potential collaboration opportunities within the agribusiness and manufacturing sectors. They expressed their willingness to actively participate in efforts aimed at facilitating export trade and increasing investment inflow to Ethiopia.
Ambassador Eshete Tilahun on his part outlined the current demand for investments and export trade commodities in Ethiopia. He assured the Volver Consulting team of the Embassy’s commitment to supporting and facilitating business connections between Ethiopia and interested parties
