H.E. Ambassador Hirut Zemene met with H.E. Ms. Myriam Ferran, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships (DG- INTPA) on October 12, 2022.
During the encounter, the Ambassador provided an update to the Deputy Director General on the current situation in Ethiopia and expressed GoE’s commitment to peacefully resolve the conflict in Northern Ethiopia within the framework of the African Union facilitation.
H.E. Ms. Ferran expressed concerns about the restricted access to the provision of humanitarian assistance due to the ongoing conflict and underlined the importance of peacefully resolving the conflict and the EU’s principled commitment towards this end.
The Deputy Director General also provided a briefing about the EU financed new development initiatives in Ethiopia that are being undertaken through a Special Measure arrangement focusing on the Health, Education, and Food Security sectors.
