The Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels along with Ethiopian diaspora community representatives in the Benelux countries commemorated the 127th ADWA Victory Day, among the historic landmarks that has shaped Ethiopian history heralding hope of freedom for the African peoples in Africa as well as beyond on March 2, 2023.
On her opening remarks, H.E Ambassador Hirut Zemene appreciated the Adwa Victory as an African Victory and a source of inspiration for the struggle for independence and freedom throughout the Pan-African world, adding that the new generation has a responsibility to replicate such a victorious spirit in current development endeavors.
A moment of silence to honor heroes, a brief presentation on the history of ADWA by Deputy Head of Mission Ambassador Shamebo Fitamo, contributions to the discussion and messages from the diaspora representatives were part of the event. Representatives of the community also expressed their sentiments about the significance of the celebration at this hybrid event.
The Victory of Adwa is a source of pride for Ethiopians as well as all black people around the world as it is the first and ever shining victory against colonialism.
