H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun and the Embassy Desk Officer have participated in the meeting that deliberated on the Netherland Africa Strategy, which outlines a ten-year vision for the period of 2023-2032 to enhance mutual interests between African states, promoting trade and economic cooperation, with the Netherlands. The key priorities of the star are highlighted as trade and economic partnerships, ensuring stability and security, and addressing challeges related to irregular migration.

At the opening of the meeting H.E. Mrs. Reinette Klever, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development of the Netherlands expressed commitments of the Government of the Netherlands to strengthen its partnership with African states interms of working together for mutual benefits. Her Excellency underscored that the Strategy’s focus areas are food security, water management and health. The Minister further highlighted the implementation of the strategy emphasize an approach of that is transformational.

Ambassador Eshete stated the close cooperation between Ethiopia and the Netherlands, also indicating the importance of general objectives and the resources requirements during implementation phases of the strategy. He noted how the strategy would interface with the EU Global Getaway Initiatives, the unintended impacts of European Deforestation Free Regulation on Africa’s foreign trade. He also expressed disappointment and the negative impacts of the unreasonable visa restriction measures. The African Ambassadors accredited to the Netherlands have participated in the meeting and underlined their countries commitment for successful win-win cooperation. Representatives of the government of The Netherlands provided clarifications questions and comments raised by African Ambassadors.
