PM Hailemariam calls for joint efforts to promote good governance

Addis Ababa, 14 August 2014 (WIC) – Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has called on government officials and leaderships at to work closely with the public to promote good governance.

The call was made at the second National Good Governance Movement Forum held today in Addis Ababa in the presence of ministers, state chiefs, university presidents and public representatives.

The premier said problems of good governance are posing challenges in the fight against poverty.Accordingly, government officials and leaderships at all levels need to team up efforts and work closely with the public to tackle the problems facing the nation in its struggle against poverty.

Dr Debretsion Gebremichael, Deputy Prime Minister for Finance and Economic Cluster and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, on the occasion presented the performance of the country’s telecom sector until June 2014.

Dr. Debretsion said long and short term strategies are being carried out to resolve problems with accessibility. New network expansion projects are also underway currently in Addis Ababa, he added.

Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy, Alemayehu Tegenu, and Minister of Trade, Kebede Chane, presented their ministries’ in the morning session.
