U.S. companies benefit by investing in Ethiopia: Minister

Addis Ababa, 12 August 2014 (WIC) - U.S. companies would benefit from the investment opportunities and incentives in Ethiopia and be able to enter the vast African market if they invest here, Foreign Affairs State Minister Dewano Kedir said.The Minister yesterday hold discussion with a 40 member delegation from DOW company, a U.S. based company about the investment opportunities in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia, Egypt to resume Nile dam talks on Aug. 26

Addis Ababa, 31 July 2014 (WIC) - Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan will resume their tripartite talks on an Ethiopian multi-billion dollar hydroelectric dam on the Nile in late August, an Ethiopian official said Tuesday."The negotiations will resume on August 26-27," Fekahmed Negash, director-general of boundary and trans-boundary rivers at Ethiopia's Water, Irrigation and Energy Ministry, told Anadolu Agency.

Ethiopia registers impressive growth in human dev’t

Addis Ababa, 26 July 2014 (WIC) - Ethiopia has achieved the fastest growth in human development between 2000 and 2013 from among Sub-Saharan Africa, according to UNDP’s 2014 Human Development Report (HDR).

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) 2014 HDR Report was launched on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Hilton Addis.

Ethiopia eyes regional integration through highways

Addis Ababa, 28 July 2014 (WIC) - A total of $610.6 million has been allocated for the implementation of the Ethiopian part of the project, with the funds coming from the Ethiopian government, international financial institutions and donor organizations.
Ethiopia is pinning high hopes that the construction of a network of inter-state highways that connects it with its East Africa neighbors would help achieve the aspired economic integration in the region.

Ambassador Teshome Toga Presents his Credential to the Republic of Lithuania.

Teshome Toga, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Benelux and Baltic countries and the EU institutions presented his letter of credence to H.E. Mrs Dalia GRYBAUSKAITE, President of the Republic of Lithuania, On June 30, 2014. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, capital of the Republic of Lithuania.

Following the presentations of his credential Ambassador Teshome briefed the President on the fast and sustainable economic growth as well as the business opportunities in Ethiopia. He underlined the need to further strengthen the business to business as well as cultural and tourism ties between the two countries. He also indicated the need to focus in cooperation in Higher learning Institutions particularly in scholarship and student exchange programs, university to university partnerships, technology transfer as well as town to town twinning’s for the benefits of the two countries.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Benelux and Baltic countries and the EU institutions, Ato Teshome Toga presented letter of credence to the President of the Republic of Latvia, H.E Mr. Andris Berins. The ceremony took place on June 26, 2014, at the Residence of the President of at Riga, Capital of the Republic of Latvia. During the occasion, Ambassador Teshome Toga expressed the desire of Ethiopia to strengthen bilateral relationships between the two countries, through Political Consolations and cooperation in various multilateral forum. In the exchange, he presented in details the sustainable economic growth and business opportunities in Ethiopia, by stressing the need to further strengthen the business to business, as well as cultural and tourism ties between the countries. He indicated the need to further strengthen the relations in technology transfer, in education and student exchanges, in research and university to university as well as town to town partnerships for the benefits of the two peoples. Furthermore he called on Latvia’s investors to explore the business opportunities in Ethiopia and continued support of Latvia to the development endeavours of Ethiopia especially during its EU presidency in the near future.

The current chair of the African Ambassadors said, Africa today is a new frontier of economic growth in which eight emerging economies out of ten are found in our continent.
In the celebration all most all African countries have presented their cultural Foods with their colourful dressings and there were also a fashion show and musical performances.
