Ethiopia at Africa Works! NABC Business Promotion Event in Amsterdam
The Ethiopian Delegation led by Deputy Commissioner of Ethiopian Investment Commission Mr. Dagato Kumbe took part at the Netherlands-Africa Business Council (NABC) event, ’AFRICA 20 Works! 24’. The event was held under the theme “Africa’s Green Industrialisation – Made in Africa” at Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam, Netherlands on April 23-24/2024.

Ambassador Hirut zemene Kassa and Mr. Thomas De Belue, Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agriculture Belgium-Luxembourg, Africa, Caribbean, Pacific(CBL ACP) jointly led a business seminar held on 28th of March 2024 at the Embassy premises. The CEO of the CBL- ACP Mr. Tanguy Briey has also graced the event by addressing the audience.

Extensive discussion under the leadership of the current chair of our region the Sudan and FAO East Africa and FAO Belgium representatives. Mitigating impacts of climate change for our pastoralist community, Water resource and post harvest crop loss managment, sustainable animal feed -amongst the topics for collaboration. The Embassy of Ethiopia is glad to have hosted the program.

H.E. Hirut Zemene, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Benelux countries and EU institutions, met the newly appointed European Union Special Representative for Human Rights, H.E. Olof SKOOG at his office on March 13, 2024. Ambassador Hirut congratulated the special representative on his new assignment.
Ethiopia participates at the Investors Council meeting of CEPI in Brussels
Professor Afework Kassu Gizaw, Director General of Armauer Hansen Research Institute has represented Ethiopia in the deliberations of the Investors Council meeting of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) in Brussels that took place from 11- 13 March 2024. On the sideline, he had fruitful discussions with the Director General of the Belgian Development Cooperation, the CEO of CEPI, the board chair of CEPI, and representatives of the EU Commission on various issues including vaccine production. He also met with the diplomats of the embassy and voiced the importance of working in collaboration in pharmaceutical and health sector development and the need to look for partners in this regard.

H.E. Ambassador Hirut Zemene Kassa conferred with the New Secretary General of CBL- ACP, Mr. Thomas De Beule today on the possibilities of strengthening collaboration between the Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels and the Belgian Chambers of Commerce. The two sides discussed enhancing business-to-business ties between the Ethiopian and Belgian private sector and Chambers of Commerce.
