A Business Follow-Up Event was held in the Embassy

The Embassy hosted a business follow-up event on 02 October 2025. The event aimed to build upon the achievements and momentum gained from the Ethio-Belgium and Luxembourg Economic Forum, which took place in Ethiopia from 1st to 4th June 2025.
The representatives of the CBL-ACP and members of the business delegation who had participated in the economic mission to Ethiopia shared their experiences and insights. They provided debriefed on what they had observed during their visit, highlighting the significant opportunities and developments aspiration of Ethiopia. Some of the delegates remain actively engaged with Ethiopian businesses as they work toward launching their own ventures. Furthermore, the delegates conveyed their eagerness to revisit Ethiopia, contribute to the country’s economic progress and commitment to fostering enduring economic ties between the three nations.
H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun, in his remark asserted the importance of the next step in strengthening business ties between Ethiopian, Belgian, and Luxembourg businesses.
On her part, H.E. Ambassador Annelies Verstichel emphasized that Belgian companies are dedicated to building strong partnerships and advancing the economic growth of both countries through ongoing collaboration and participation in future projects.

H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a courtesy meeting with H.E. Mrs. Theodora Gentzis, President of the Management Committee, FPS Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Belgium at her office.
The two officials exchange views on strengthening bilateral relation and high-level discussions on bilateral and regional issues. They emphasized the need to further cooperation on economic partnership in trade and investment, regional peace and security as well as combating terrorism and impact of climate change.

On 30 September 2025, H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a meeting with representatives from Volver Consulting. The objective of the discussion was to explore avenues for attracting investment to Ethiopia and enhancing access for Ethiopian products in the European market.
The Volver Consulting team provided insights into potential collaboration opportunities within the agribusiness and manufacturing sectors. They expressed their willingness to actively participate in efforts aimed at facilitating export trade and increasing investment inflow to Ethiopia.
Ambassador Eshete Tilahun on his part outlined the current demand for investments and export trade commodities in Ethiopia. He assured the Volver Consulting team of the Embassy’s commitment to supporting and facilitating business connections between Ethiopia and interested parties

Ambassador Eshete received His Excellency Denis Gonchar, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Belgium, on a courtesy call at his office.
The two Ambassadors exchanged views on past and present diplomatic activities, wide range of bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interests. They emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between their respective missions in the spirit of diplomatic cooperation for the interest of their countries.

This sacred holiday, recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013, brought together Ethiopians, those of Ethiopian descent, and friends of Ethiopia in a joyful unity. The traditional Demera bonfire illuminated the event, underscoring Meskel’s global importance as a cherished shared heritage.

Ambassador Eshete Tilahun welcomed Mr. Laurent Sillano, Head of Unit for Regional and Multi-Country Programmers for Africa, at his office on 12 September 2025.
Ambassador Eshete highlighted the strong partnership between Ethiopia and the European Union. He emphasized the need to further enhance cooperation in economic development, trade, and investment under the Global Gateway initiative.
Ambassador Eshete and Mr. Sillano underscored the importance of more comprehensive investment package and the strengthening of the EU-Ethiopia and EU-AU partnership in the common development sphere.

The Embassy held discussion with Executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of The Netherlands
On 11 September 2025, Mr. Tofik Mohammed, Minister in the Embassy met with Mr. Marco Haas, Head of International and Caribbean Police Affairs in the Ministry of Justice and Security. He also discussed with Mr. Jan Willem Konig, Senior Policy Advisor in the Ministry of Justice and Security and Mr. Julian Beuken, Desk Officer for Ethiopia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
During the meetings operational issues on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including the reactivation of the Bilateral Political Consultation was highlighted. Exchanges of high-level visits, enhance economic partnership, migration and return cooperation explored. The two sides exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interests. They also agreed to work together at the multilateral level such as candidacy to international mechanisms, strengthening of regional and international peace and security.
