Ethiopia is taking part in the 37th Annual Meeting of the Governing Council of the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC)

The Ethiopian Delegation led by H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun, Governor of Ethiopia to the CFC is participating in the 37th Annual Meeting of the Common Fund for Commodities Governing Council, taking place on 9 and 10 December 2025, in The Hague, The Netherlands.
At today’s session, the Council discussed on wide range of issues to strengthen the organization’s capacity to support commodity-producing countries through financial and technical assistance. Value addition, humanizing value chains and sustainable market access which includes implementation of the CFC’s Strategic Framework for 2025-2035. The progress of new initiatives like the Commodity Impact Investment Facility (CIIF) and the Agricultural Commodities Transformation Fund (ACT).
The Governing Council has adopted the CFC Strategic Framework for the year 2025-2035, the CFC 2025 operational report, the CFC 2026 budget and 2024 audited financial statement. In his statement at the meeting, Ambassador Eshete Tilahun highlighted among others, Ethiopia’s potential in producing commodities including wheat. The endeavours and achievements of the government of Ethiopia in ensuring food security in particular heat resistant wheat production and combating climate change through the Green Legacy Initiative he noted.
While commending the efforts of the CFC in providing financial and technical support to the smallholder farmers and SMEs. Ambassador Eshete also underscored the need to diversify sources of financing to meet growing demands of the commodity producing countries, particularly the Least Developed and Land Linked Countries.
