H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held Meeting with H.E. Ambassador Frederieke Quispel.

H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun discussed today with Ambassador Frederieke Quispel, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The two exchanged views on the current peace and security situation in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa region.

During the meeting, Ambassador Eshete briefed Ambassador Frederieke about the situation in northern Ethiopia including the naked aggression by the government of Eritrea. He underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to defend the sovereignty, peace and security of the country. He noted protecting the well-being of our people, and promoting stability across the Horn of Africa is a priority for Ethiopia. He reaffirmed commitment of the Ethiopian government to ensure smooth flow of humanitarian support and engage in DDR.

Ambassador Frederieke welcomed Ethiopia’s emphasis peaceful resolutions to addressing the prevailing challenges. She also highlighted the importance of sustained engagement and constructive dialogue to advance peaceful solutions and ensure the protection of civilians.

Both sides underscored the importance of continued consultation and cooperation in the process of addressing peace, security and development challenges in the Horn of Africa.
