Ms. Julie Blavier, daughter of the late Jean Paul Blavier, a former CEO of BGI Ethiopia and Castel Group, has handed over a collection of her father’s personal souvenir items to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels on 18 November 2025. The gesture of goodwill took place during a ceremony, where Ms. Blavier expressed her family’s wish to keep her father’s memory alive in Ethiopia, a country he considered home. She highlighted the importance of preserving his legacy and ensuring that his contributions continue to be remembered.
H.E. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun welcomed the initiative and thanked Ms. Blavier together with family. He also invited Ms. Blavier to maintain close ties with the Embassy, expressed to assist in any similar future initiatives aimed at honouring the late Jean Paul Blavier.

Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a productive discussion with Ms. Beate Gminder, Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs (EU-DG HOME) on 18 November 2024. The discussion focused on migration cooperation, particularly issues related to visa for Ethiopian nationals.
The two officials appraised efforts of the government of Ethiopia and the commitment to the bilateral cooperation on migration and development. They also highlighted the EU’s readiness to support in addressing the root causes of ilegal migration.
Ambassador Eshete stressed Ethiopia’s efforts towards promoting strategic partnership with the European Union through regular engagements. He further explained the negative impacts of the EU visa policies on flow of businesses and people to people relations.
The Director General on her parts acknowledged the significant progress made in the dialogue and cooperation of the migration issues. She emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure effective implantation of commitments in the sector.
Both officials agreed on the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue that steers further the ongoing cooperation and new areas of mutual interests.

This morning on 6 November 2025, Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held discussion with H.E. Ms. Patricia LLOMBART CUSSAC, Managing Director for Africa in the European External Action Service (EEAS). The meeting focused on the current situation of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interests. Their exchange was held prior to the Managing Director’s upcoming visit to Addis Ababa from 6 to11 November 2025.
During the discussion Ambassador Eshete expressed Ethiopia’s highest expectations that the 50 years partnership needs to deliver as stated by principals of both sides at the side-lines of the Second Global Gateway Forum. He highlighted issues causing problem for smooth conduct of businesses and seamless political discourse.
The two sides exchanged views on pressing regional developments and internal dynamics in Ethiopia. He also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, highlighting the government’s efforts to de-escalate any tensions. The Managing Director on her part commended Ethiopia’s position on issues discussed and emphasized EU’s commitment to support regional stability and constructive engagements.

Ambassador Eshete Tilahun held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Francesco Di Lillo, Director of the European Union and International Affairs Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and members of his office at the chancery of the Embassy of Ethiopia.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the Church’s philanthropic works in Ethiopia and discussed other issues of mutual interest including possibilities of future humanitarian activities.

Today on the 20th October 2025, Ambassador Eshete Tilahun conferred with Dr. Czepelak, Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). During the meeting the Ambassador briefed the Secretary General on Ethiopia’s willingness and potential to host international organizations and foreign diplomatic missions. The country already hosts the AU, the UN Economic Commission for Africa, and many missions and organizations.
Secretary General Dr. Czepelak on his part explained the activities and working process of the PCA and emphasized the important role of Member States in resolving disputes. He also requested updates agreeing to negotiate the submitted document.
The two Officials exchanged views on the progress towards considering the text of the draft Host Country Agreement between the PCA and Ethiopia.

The Embassy of Ethiopia in Brussels today convened the meeting of the East African Region Group of Ambassadors. Ambassador Eshete Tilahun chaired the meeting in the capacity of Ethiopia’s current Chair of the East African Regional Group in Brussels.
Heads of Mission gathered discussed, among other things, the need to strengthen the regional coordination, the region’s participation in the preparatory process of the upcoming 11th Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Summit and the 7th EU-AU Summit. The Ambassadors agreed on key activities of the preparation to the Summits and elements of implementation.

እለቱን በማስመልከት ክቡር አምባሳደር እሸቴ ጥላሁን ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት ኢትዮጵያ የረጅም ዘመን የስነ መንግስት አሰራር እና የዘመናት ዲፕሎማሲ ታሪክ ባለቤት መሆኗን አንስተው፣ የዲፕሎማሲ ቀን መከበሩ የተገኙ ውጤቶችን ለመዘከርና ለወደፊቱ የደመቁ አዳዲስ ድሎችን በአግባቡ ለመዘከር አስፈላጊ መሆኑን ገልፀዋል።
በመርሃ- ግብሩ በዲፕሎማሲ ዓለም ሰፊ ልምድ ያካበቱ ዲፕሎማቶች የስራ እና የህይወት ልምድ ልውውጥ እንዲሁም በብራሰልስ የኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ. ኤምባሲ ያገለገሉ የቀድሞ አምባሳደሮችን የሚያስተዋውቅ ዝክር ቀርቧል። በቤኔሉክስ አገራትና አውሮፓ ህብረት በመሪ ደረጃ የተደረጉ ጉብኝቶችን የሚያሳይ ቪዲዮም ታዳሚዎች እንዲመለከቱ ተደርጓል።
በዲፕሎማሲው ዘርፍ ረጅም ዘመንና የላቀ አገልግሎት ላበረከቱት ክብርት አምባሳደር ፎርቱና ዲባኮ የእውቅና ስጦታ ተበርክቶላቸዋል።
የኬክ ቆረሳና የቤተሰብ ፎቶግራፍ ፕሮግራም እንዲሁም ከዳያስፖራ አባላት ጋር ለመቋደስ የተዘጋጀው መስተንግዶ የበዓሉን ድምቀት ጨምሮታል።

በብራሰልስ የኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ ኤምባሲ ባልደረቦች በአገር አቀፍ ደረጃ ለ18ኛ ጊዜ “ሰንደቅ አላማችን ለኢትዮጵያ ታላቅ የከፍታ ብስራት፣ ለብሄራዊ አንድነታችን፣ ለሉዓላዊነታችንና ለኢትዮጵያ ህዳሴ’’ በሚል መሪ ቃል የሰንደቅ አላማ ቀን ዛሬ ጥቅምት 03 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. በድምቀት አክብረዋል።
በስነስርዓቱ ላይ ክቡር አምባሳደር እሸቴ ጥላሁን በበዓሉን አስመልክቶ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት ለሰንደቅ ዓላማ የሚሰጥ ክብርና ፍቅር፣ ሀገራዊ አንድነትና ህብረብሄራዊነት ለማፅናት በኢትዮጵያውያን የተከፈለውን መስዋዕትነት ማዕከል ማድረግ እንዳለበት ገልፀዋል። አገራችንን እና ሕዝቦቿ በየወቅቱ ያጋጠማቸውን ፈተናዎችና ተግዳሮቶችን በመሻገር የተመዘገቡ ድሎችን በየዘመኑ መድገምና የሀገራችንን ሉዓላዊነት ማስቀጠል የሁሉም ዜጎች ግዴታ እንደሆነ አስረድተዋል።
ስለሰንደቅ አላማችን ክብር ስናስብ የሰላምና ፀጥታ አስከባሪዎች በተለይም የመከላከያ ሰራዊታችንን መስዋዕትነት ከፍ አድርገን ማክበር እንዳለብን አመልክተዋል።የሰንደቅ አላማ ክብር ትውልድና አፅናፋትን ተሻጋሪ ሊሆን እንደሚገባም ገልፀዋል።

A delegation led by Ambassador Hirut Zemene, Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union and the UNECA took part at the 16th Annual African Union Peace and Security Council and European Union Peace and Security Committee Joint Consultative Meeting held in Brussels on 9 October 2025.
The meeting deliberated, among others, on peace and security issues in the Horn of Africa, the Great Lake region and the Sahel as well as the need for enhanced cooperation in multilateral fora to uphold common interests. The Ethiopian delegation took part as a lead contributor on the discussion in the Horn of Africa. Ambassador Hirut also shared the experience of Ethiopia and perspectives of the African continent on the discussion on Women, Peace and Security during the informal working lunch meeting.
Prior to the Joint Annual Consultation, a successful exchange was made at a preparatory meeting -the 8th AU – EU PSC retreat and a Consultative meeting between the African Group of Ambassadors in Brussels (GAAB) and the Members of the AU Peace and Security Council on the 7th of October 2025.
The 16th AU EU Peace and Security consultative meeting concluded by adopting a joint communique.

The two sides exchanged views on a broad range of bilateral and multilateral issues, including the need to scale up Ethiopia–EU cooperation, and to advance peace and security in the Horn of Africa and beyond.
