Ethiopia meets MDGs – EU

Addis Ababa, 16 June 2014 (WIC) - Ethiopia is on the right track to meet most of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), said European Union (EU). According to EU ambassador to Addis Ababa, Chantal Hebert said that Ethiopia has become effective in reducing poverty, child and maternal mortality; and accessing school age children to education, sustainable environmental protection, controlling malaria, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

Ethiopia welcomes Egypt’s decision to solve GERD issue through dialogue

Addis Ababa, 12 June 2014 (WIC) – Ethiopia welcomes Egypt’s decision to return back to a dialogue over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Newly elected Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has recently insisted that the dam issue must be solved through talks

“Ethiopia strongly welcomes Egypt’s interest to re-launch talk over the GERD and solve the problem through dialogue,” Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Dina Mufti told journalists today.
“Egypt has no other option except dialogue and win-win negotiation to find a solution that is acceptable by both sides,” Ambassador Dina said

May 28 victory day and 3rd year Anniversary of the GERD colourfully celebrated in Brussels

May 31, 2014 - The Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels together with Ethiopians and Foreign Nationals of Ethiopian origin living in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg colourfully celebrated the 23rd anniversary of the May 28 Victory Day and the 3rd anniversary of the launch of the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on Saturday.

On the occasion, Ambassador Teshome Toga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the EU Institutions and the Benelux and Baltic countries said, Ethiopians have witnessed an incredible transformation of their country in the last two decades evolving from a “basket case” and a pathetic state to its present status as dynamic and strong nation with considerable political and economic power in such a short time.

New Ethiopian Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg .

Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Teshome Toga presented his credentials to the Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri Albert Gabriel. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, 21 May 2014, at the Royal Palace in the capital city of Luxembourg.

In the conversation that followed the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Teshome highlighted Ethiopia’s sustainable economic growth and briefed the Grand Duke on the current situation in region. He assured the Grand Duke, of Ethiopia’s readiness to strengthen relations with Luxembourg.
