Declaration of a Humanitarian Truce by the Government of Ethiopia

The Government of Ethiopia has been taking measures to expedite the provision of humanitarian aid to people in need in the Tigray region. To this end, it has increased the number of United Nations humanitarian flights and expedited through improved clearance procedures the delivery of fuel and cash for payments by aid organizations. Flights for ICRC, WHO and the European Union have been facilitated to deliver humanitarian aid. The Government has also been working to facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance through the Abala-Mekelle route.

The spokesperson of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, H.E. Ambassador Dina Mufti, gave the Ministry’s biweekly press briefing today (February 24, 2022) to the media. In his presentation, the Ambassador focused on political diplomacy (with a special focus on the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Demeke Mekonnen’s participation in the Munich Security Conference and State Minister H.E. Ambassador Redwan Hussein’s visit to Pakistan), including Economic Diplomacy, citizen-centered diplomatic activities and capacity building activities of the ministry over the week.

On the 24th of February 2022, H.E. Ambassador Hirut Zemene received at her office Mr. Jeroen A. Beijer, a Commercial Director of Pikoline/Schippers Group – a Dutch company founded in 1966 and operates in 40+ countries around the world – to discuss its new project in Ethiopia. The company develops knowledge, services, and products to improve hygiene in livestock farms.
